Translation Guidelines for Daythread

Thanks for translating Daythread! A few notes to keep the app consistent across languages.

Tone

German: always use the informal "Du" form, never "Sie". The app is aimed at plural systems/DID·OSDD contexts — a warm, personal tone matters throughout.

Placeholders — don't translate them, but do reposition them

Text inside double curly braces like {{count}}, {{name}}, {{front}} gets replaced at runtime. Please:

  • Leave the placeholder itself unchanged (don't translate the name inside the braces)

  • Move it to wherever it belongs grammatically in your target language's sentence

Special case: {{alterLower}}, {{systemLower}}, {{frontLower}}, {{frontVerb}} are user-configurable terminology — users can set their own words for "alter", "system", and "fronting" in the app's settings (e.g. "host" instead of "alter"). The actual word inserted at runtime comes from the user's own setting, not from the translation. Please phrase the sentence so it still works grammatically once a noun is dropped in, even though you won't know that word in advance.

Plural forms

Keys ending in _one / _other belong together (i18next plural rules). Please fill in every form Weblate shows you for your language — some languages have more than two plural forms, and Weblate will surface the right number of fields automatically.

Tone for sensitive content

Journal, safety, and grounding texts (including the presets under safety.presets.*) are deliberately calm, non-judgmental, and avoid harsh imperatives ("Name 5 things…" rather than "You must…"). Please preserve that tone even where your language might otherwise favor a more direct phrasing.

Terminology consistency

Keep core terms like "front"/"fronting", "alter", "system", "check-in" consistent throughout the app — don't vary the wording for style, even where it might be tempting. If you're unsure, leave a comment on the string instead of guessing.

Easy Language / Plain language

The second component ("Easy Language") only contains the subset of strings that have been simplified for accessibility ("Einfache Sprache" / plain language). Short sentences, one idea per sentence, no subordinate clauses, no jargon. Don't try to mirror the full scope of the Main component here — only translate keys that already exist as Easy Language entries.
